April 29, 2015: BVI Cruise Ship Pier officially opens!

Thousands of tourists disembarked from the cruise ship Norwegian Getaway yesterday morning, walking down the newly extended pier and filing past the large tent where dozens of government officials, businesspeople, and other members of the public gathered to celebrate the opening of the marine side of the cruise ship pier project.

With the widening and lengthening of the cruise pier to roughly 60 feet and 1,300 feet, respectively, BVI can now expect to see at least 425,000 cruise passengers annually from the Disney and Norwegian cruise lines alone, as per the government’s berthing agreement with the two companies.

IDL, teamed up with Belvedere Place Developments and Meridian Construction Ltd. was awarded this contract on April 22, 2014. Since then, we have completed expansion of existing pier to a total width of 60 feet, creation of a revetment comprised of approx. 100,000 y3 of dredged material, creation of slope protection in front of pier, demolition works as required, sheet piling or concrete wall structures to construct the boardwalk

February 6, 2015: UBCO Concrete Toboggan Competition:

IDL Projects was pleased to support the UBCO Concrete Toboggan team in this year's competition that took place at Big White Ski Resort. With IDL's support, they were able to bring forty-six members to competition, the biggest group they've had so far. With the advantage of having the GNCTR competition held on home turf they were able to obtain best performing toboggan, best concrete mix design, best theoretical toboggan, best technical report, and second overall in the competition. They were thrilled to have competed in such an amazing competition and to represent their school and bring positive attention to IDL Projects. They are already excited and looking forward to next year’s competition in Ottawa and hope to take home the gold.
