UNBC Wood Innovation Research Laboratory
Design-Build of a 12,000ft2 Passive House Certified Wood Innovation Lab. Project includes Strong Wall and Floor assembly for certification testing of new wood products. Mass Timber superstructure utilized proprietary German hardware for speed of erection due to fast-track schedule requirements. Constructed with wall and roof assemblies invented for the project to achieve R100 roof and R80 insulation values and air tightness. The project achieved a North American record for air tightness for an institutional building and was certified Passive House, making it the first of its type in North America to meet the internationally recognized standards for energy efficiency.
